A guide to using machine needles, what you need and what you need them for.
A W-file is the same as the Dentsply Waveone which is the company's first reciprocating needle.
Features:
- 1-pin system, although there are 3 sets of pins (time-saving)
- Can only be used in a reciprocal (150° forwards and 30° backwards) endomotor (lower risk of needle breakage as there is no rotary movement)
- Conicity: 6-8%
- Needle thickness: up to #21-40
- Cross-section: irregular
- Crown-down dilation technique recommended
- 1 needle is sufficient in most channels
- Can be sterilised in an autoclave at up to 134°C
