Properties of Cold Spray:

• Indication: for checking the vitality of the teeth
• Application: spray the contents of the spray onto cotton wool or cotton swab from a distance of 2-3 cm for 1-2 seconds and then touch the tooth

Never spray directly into the mouth! The product is flammable, do not smoke in the vicinity and keep away from flammable materials and surfaces!

I used to always use the cold spray for the vitality test first, but now I'm using the pulse tester more and more often!

• If the patient is older,


• if the pulp has receded in a tooth with crowding,


• if the patient's reaction to cold is uncertain,


• when even the X-ray provides no clues,

Go to the pulp tester!!!

As dentists, we rightly spend a lot, often in the millions, on diagnostics: 3D Rtg, caries detectors, etc. But when a product "only" costs tens of thousands of dollars and isn't sold with a lot of hype (advertised in big publications, big trade show booths, continuing education lectures), we don't take it seriously, even though the best tools of a good general practitioner are still his hearing, his sense of touch and his phonendoscope! I think it is also good for the dentist to first use his questions, his palpation, his sight, his tapping, his probe and his pulp tester and only then his more expensive, slower examination methods!
